About
Formerly the market garden for Redhouse Castle and re-opened in 2013, Redhouse Nurseries aspires to providing exceptional, friendly customer service alongside our exclusively selected plant lines. You’ll find all the old favourites as well as a few new and unusual varieties, there is something for everyone!
Protected on all sides by the old market garden wall but facing towards the south, means we (and the plants) can soak up all the sunshine in one of Scotland’s sunniest locations, receiving an average 1400 hours of sunshine every year. Combined with Scotland’s lowest annual rainfall, it is easy to see how Redhouse offers the ideal growing environment. Surrounded by trees, edged by a meandering stream and jam-packed with wildlife, it also presents a relaxed setting to stroll around and delve through the full range of plants available.
We are constantly evolving the site and gardens, with 4 acres in total and over 2000m² of covered growing space, we’ve got our work cut out for us.
Some of our biggest developments include:
- Installation of new access road and vehicular entrance
- Upgrade to the existing electricity supply
- New walkers and cyclists entrance for easy access
- Recovered the polytunnel
- Expanded the tea room menu
- Installation of outdoor seating area for tea room
